Administrative & Governmental Law

Administrative Law

We help persons affected by investigations or decisions by licensing and professional boards to deal with those matters, including representation on appeal before and Administrative Law Judge through the Office of Administrative Hearings. Examples of North Carolina matters include the Appraisal Board; the Real Estate Commission; the Board of Nursing; the Medical Board; the Licensing Board for General Contractors; the State Board of Education; the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission; and others.

Governmental and Agency Law

We assist property owners and other citizens dealing with local or State governmental entities or agencies. Our local and State governments affect many things we do or want to do, and it can be hard to know how best to deal with these entities and agencies to resolve or appeal a matter, or to wind through the ordinances and laws to achieve the goal. Examples include dealing with local Planning Boards, Boards of Appeal, and Board of Commissioners and Councils; and State agencies including the Department of Natural Resources and Community Development, the Department of Transportation, and others. These matters range from development and subdivision approval, to Conditional Use and Variance approvals, to condemnation proceedings and appeals, and more.
